What they needed
Property investment in New Zealand had been limited to people with significant capital. New crowdfunding rules under the FMC Act opened the door to a wider audience, and Property Mogul wanted to be first through it: a way for everyday New Zealanders to buy shares in property from $1,000. Being first meant little without trust, so the brand had to read as credible and secure before anyone put money in.
What we built
The brand and the platform, together. The brand was built to earn that trust, plain and secure, with the promise of property investing made easy front and centre. On the platform, investors browse properties with predicted growth and rental return and see how much of each is already funded. A property page carries an invest slider that shows the share price and costs as it moves, a map, the documents to download and related listings, and investors can buy and sell shares from there. Before launch we tested both the brand and the platform with the target market.
What changed
Around 90% of the target market validated the idea, and around 95% said they trusted the brand. Property Mogul was among the first movers in NZ property crowdfunding. The crowdfunding licence didn't come through, so the platform never launched, and the IP was carried into other ventures.
Where it goes next
The engagement finished in 2016.
