Connecting the Pacific for 8x traffic growth

The Pacific Cooperation Foundation's website tells its story in three parts: initiatives, connections and information. Organic traffic grew around 8x over three years and page load times halved.

What they needed

The Pacific Cooperation Foundation serves different audiences across the Pacific, participants, funders and partners, and all of them relied on its website for information. The content was there, but it didn't tell the story clearly, and the site had to work for people on the slower connections common across the region.

What we built

Through stakeholder workshops and surveys we settled on three areas that explain what PCF does, Initiatives, Connections and Information, and built the site around them. We refined the messaging so each audience can see where it fits, with a Working Together section for participants, funders and partners, and news beside it. The design draws on Pacific photography, patterned fabrics and frangipani, so the site looks like the region it serves. Under that is a performance-optimised build with a clear content structure, tuned so the pages load and read well on a slow connection or a phone.

What changed

Page load times dropped by around 50%. Organic traffic grew around 8x over three years, and around 95% of users gave positive feedback on the experience.

Where it goes next

In 2023, after a change in leadership, PCF moved to an in-house Squarespace site on the foundations we established.
