Content & SEO

AuditWeb

Make sure your content is ready for users and search engines.

Run this audit before launching public-facing pages, when refreshing content, or when search traffic is underperforming.
Useful for marketing, content creators, and product managers.

Note: This audit applies to public-facing web pages (marketing, landing pages, docs). App dashboards and admin panels typically don't need SEO optimization.

Why This Matters

Content is how users understand what you offer. Clear, well-written copy builds trust and drives action. Proper SEO helps people find you. Legal pages protect both you and your users. Neglecting content means missed opportunities and potential legal issues.

What to Check

Focus on these four areas when reviewing content:

Copy Quality

Is the content clear and compelling? Remove placeholder text, check grammar, use scannable formatting, and ensure your tone is consistent across pages.

Legal Pages

Are legal requirements covered? Privacy policy, terms of service, and cookie consent are essential. Have legal counsel review before launch.

SEO Basics

Can search engines find you? Unique page titles, meta descriptions, proper headings, and a sitemap help search engines understand and rank your content.

Social Sharing

Does it look good when shared? Open Graph tags control how your pages appear on social media. Test with sharing debuggers before launch.

Stage Expectations

What content standards apply at each stage:

POC

MVP

MMP

Essential SEO Elements

Make sure each public page has:

Page Title

Unique, under 60 characters, includes keywords

Meta Description

Compelling, under 160 characters, drives clicks

Open Graph Image

1200x630px for social sharing previews

Sitemap & Robots.txt

Generated and submitted to Search Console

Common Issues

Placeholder text still visible

Search codebase for 'lorem', 'placeholder', 'TODO' and replace all instances

Missing privacy policy

Use a generator (Termly, Iubenda) or have a lawyer draft one

Social shares look broken

Add og:image, test with Facebook Sharing Debugger

Pages not appearing in search

Check robots.txt isn't blocking, submit sitemap to Search Console

Duplicate page titles

Make each page title unique and include page-specific keywords
